In an accident?

• Take a picture of the accident scene if safe to do so.
• Next move vehicles to a safe location, if vehicles are drivable.

• Regardless of the size of the accident, call the police.
• The 911 dispatcher will tell you if police are coming or not, and how to proceed. Wait for police to come (be patient, it could be a little bit of a wait), proceed with exchanging information and calling for tow trucks as needed.

Regardless if police come or not, this is vital! Use your phone’s camera!
Take pictures and document the following:

• the accident scene and all cars involved
• full name and contact information of
  everyone involved + witnesses/passengers
• insurance company and policy number
• driver’s license and license plate number
• type, color, and model of vehicle(s)
• location of accident
• if police are present, get their names, badge #’s,
  and the accident report number

Do not discuss who is at fault. Police and insurance companies will determine who is at fault based on damage, pictures and supporting documentation.

• Once you are safely home or at your destination, notify your insurance and start the claims process. Depending if police were present, you may have to file an accident report.
